What One Man Won't Do Another Man Will/ Rudy Blue

From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy. This record proves beyond doubt that what I call Funky Soul was still very much alive in the mid-1970s. Funky Soul is that flavor of soul music pioneered by James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Sam & Dave, and many others, with punchy horns and a distinctive polyrhythmic beat. The style was overtaken by what we now call "Funk" in the late 1960s, again led by James Brown as well as bands like Sly & the Family Stone. One thing that distinguishes Funk from Funky Soul is an absence of song structure per se, as well as of melody in the traditional sense. Further, the vocal style of Funk strays completely away from Soul Music's origins in gospel, which is still a driver in the Funky Soul genre.
