This is one of the seminal singles in the genesis of what became known as Garage Rock. Surprisingly (and disappointingly to fans of this and the group's next blockbuster, "All The Day And All Of The Night"), the group abandoned garage rock almost as soon as they had helped get it off the ground. Oh well, no problem. Just give me "You Really Got Me" any time you like! Be sure to also cherish the grungy B side rocker, which as it turns out is a non-album cut. This is the second pressing on the orange/brown Reprise label introduced on #0320 (see scan). First pressings were on the peach-colored label and are worth about $5.00 more. Note: This copy comes in a vintage Reprise Records factory sleeve. The labels have a touch of ringwear, grading a strong EX. The vinyl (styrene) looks Near Mint in appearance with just a few light scuffs, and the audio is undistorted and strong, grading Near Mint.
