From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed promo copy, in its original factory sleeve. I don't know why, but this single entered the U.S. charts (well, the "Bubbling Under" ones...) 2 weeks after his first U.S. chart single, and they both peaked at about the same spot. So picture this... Island 042 entered the chart on 1/3/76 and peaked at #105. After 2 weeks, it drops off the chart and this one--Island 049--starts to "bubble under." Like its predecessor, it spends two weeks "bubbling" and peaks at #106, then disappears forever. Eleven months later, Palmer has a third chart single that, "Man Smart, Woman Smarter," that finally cracks the Hot 100. All in all, a very strange debut year for this talented U.K. singer. Incidentally, this single has a superb version of the Maytals' classic "Pressure Drop" on the flip, indicating that Palmer was anticipating his countrymen's burgeoning interest in reggae/ska, which together with the new wave "power pop" would dominate U.K. rock through the early 1980's.
