Here I Go Again

Originally released on Atlantic 2693. This rare Archie Bell tune was actually released as the B side of the original U.S. single, but even then managed to bubble under the pop charts while the A side flopped totally (though it did chart in the black market). Though the U.K. was slow to succumb to the charms of this great Texas singer and his Drells, when they did, they made this tune Bell's first U.K. hit... and a pretty big one at that, reaching #11 on the U.K. charts. With that, the tune became the biggest Archie Bell single in the Northern Soul scene and helped define the Gamble-Huff Philly sound for British listeners. This terrific U.K. reissue by Atlantic actually features a track from Bell's first 1968 album, "Tighten Up", on the A side--"A Thousand Wonders."
