This is a new, unplayed promo copy from the
Louise Neal 45 Collection. Although this 45's label "matrix numbers" suggest that "It Must Be Love" was the intended A side, history has clearly shown that fans prefer "Baby Don't You Weep", and since that's the song collectors are seeking out, we think it's appropriate to call it the A side despite the matrix numbers story. In my long experience, matrix numbers are only a guide, not a definite statement, to determining a single's A side. I believe that a single's chart history (via a national industry trade magazine such as Bilozoard) should also be weighed in determining A/B sides when compiling an artist's discography. (Some guidebooks, such as John Manship's, eschew matrix numbers entirely and show as the A side the track that's most sought after by fans.) In any case, "Weep" (no relation whatsoever to the James Brown song) is a really terrific, uptempo Northern Soul-style dancer that's highly sought after by fans of the genre. "It Must Be Love" is also worth seeking out: A tender ballad with a great arrangement that showcases the singer's softer side. Note: This beautiful copy's labels are so close to perfect we're grading them Mint. The vinyl (styrene) exhibits faint storage wear, grading Near Mint. After a cleaning, the grooves reward with pristine Mint audio, both sides!
