This is a truly special offering... It was Little Anthony's first single on the Veep label (a United Artists subsidiary like DCP), and it's a masterpiece of the Northern Soul dance beat, plus a high drama and rich arrangement that would do Phil Spector proud. It must have been disappointing to all involved that the record did so poorly on the charts — not even cracking the top half of the Bilozoard Hot 100 singles chart and not getting any measurable airplay in the Black market at all. But those numbers don't in any way detract from its value to 45 collectors, or to music lovers in general.\r\n
This is a first pressing of the single, when the Veep label used an octagonal design (most of their singles used the later circular design). It also comes with a very rare Veep factory sleeve — likewise using a design that appeared only with the Octagonal-label releases.\r\n
Note: The label credits the group as simply "Little Anthony and the Imperials." This single is from a large collection we've purchased whose records typically have mint or near-mint audio and near-mint vinyl. The labels are near mint as well, but the owner had a habit of writing a date in small print on the B side label. Pressed on styrene, the audio is pristine except for one or two pops at the beginning.
