Carolina Girls/ Down At The Beach Club

Both sides of this great single reprise a glorious 1960s-era soul sound, celebrated along the North Atlantic coast (particularly the Carolinas) as "beach music." For newcomers, General Johnson's long and illustrious career included stints as singer/writer for the Showmen ("It Will Stand") and Charimen of the Board ("Give Me Just A Little More Time"). I think so highly of these two tracks that they both get 5 stars in my iTunes library... translated to a 2-star recommendation here (our highest). Note: This beautiful 45 has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
