This is one of only two Raspberries singles that Capitol decorated with a picture sleeve... the other being their first chart single, which failed pretty miserably (peak: #86). The cool thing about the "Let's Pretend" sleeve, though, isn't the great band-member photos on the back, it's the rather incredible promotion taking place on the front!
You can't read the small print in the accompanying scan, but basically, this was a contest to win a Raspberries "Rollswagen"--a Volkswagen Beetle decked out to look like a Rolls! There are oodles of time-capsule-worthy notes on the front, but my favorites are the following two "Far-Out Features":
- Quadrasonic 8-Track Stereo System! Outasight sound with 4 speakers by Car Tapes, Inc., of California
- A Complete Library of 100 Capitol 8-Track Cartridges! Includes Beatles! Helen Reddy! Rick Springfield! Leon Russell! Many more favorites!
By the way, this single is specially edited from a longer (3:42) album track.
Note: The 45 has Mint labels, and the vinyl looks almost untouched. The audio sounds pristine Mint. The sleeve has just a light touch of ringwear from the 45's "ribbed" label edge but no other notable flaws, grading Near Mint. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
