Here's a beautiful promo copy of this very early Cat Stevens single, in a vintage Deram Records factory sleeve. This quirky, catchy number didn't make much of an impression in the States, where, like its predecessor, "I Love My Dog," just barely "bubbled under" the Bilozoard Hot 100 Singles chart. Chart Nerd Alert: And yet, it's astonishing to discover by looking at the British pop chart that "Matthew And Son" ended up being the biggest hit of U.K. singer/songwriter Stevens' long career, peaking at #2. Of his many classic early 1970s hits (in the U.S.), only "Morning Has Broken" cracked the Top 10 back home, peaking at #9. Note: This copy has Near Mint labels, with only faint signs of wear. The vinyl (styrene) and audio are pristine Mint.
