Mercenaries (Ready For War)/ Rosegarden Funeral of Sores

A powerful, disturbing antiwar statement with a theme similar to Elvis Costello's "Oliver's Army." Cale was one of the founding members of the influential 1960's rock band Velvet Underground, which was led by Lou Reed. I find it a bit scary--and impressively foresighted--that Cale chose a map of Afghanistan and environs as the focal point of the war he's "ready for."
