This great rockabilly single has two uptempo tracks... the A side has no relation to the instrumental "Bongo Rock" that Preston Epps hit with the following year (revived with flair in 1975 by the Incredible Bongo Band). This "Bongo Rock" is a vocal track, for one thing. The B side is even better... a great example of classic 1950's rockabilly. With a sax in the group, the Ding-A-Lings have a sound similar to Bill Haley & His Comets, but apparently they never had a steady vocalist. On this single, the label credits the vocal to Kip Tyler, but in its short run, the group had lead vocals by two or three other singers. The audio on this promo copy is much better than expected based on the vinyl, which is scuffed up pretty well. The A side label has some small water stains on the left-hand side.
