Why Do I Love You So / Jimmy's Girl

Originally released on Cadence 1372. Despite his teen idol looks, it took Tillotson a few tries before scoring a really big hit. This was his first minor hit, which didn't quite make the top 40, and it's one of his most enjoyable recordings in my opinion. Here he's going for a kind of Ricky Nelson-meets-Dion sound that I really like! After its release in January 1960, he didn't have to wait long before that smash... which came in the form of the somewhat annoying "Poetry In Motion" toward the end of the year.
