Hound Dog/ Rock A Bye Baby

This is a stock copy from the Louise Neal collection. Here's a single I never thought I'd hold in my hands... The original 1953 hit version of "Hound Dog," by Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton! Of course, it makes much more sense to hear Big Mama singing to her hound than to hear Elvis Presley putting down in his dog. :-) (Still, Elvis does add something to it, doesn't he? My, yes!) If you don't know this original version, do seek it out one way or another. Your understanding of the evolution of Rock'n'Roll simply cannot be complete without it. Note: This 45 is among those in the Neal collection that she may have actually played, and which sadly spent some of their life outside a protective sleeve. The 45s in this category may have more noticeable storage wear (ringwear and scuffs/scratches), and the audio may not be pristine due to imperfect grooves. In this case, the labels are a strong EX, with just light touches of ringwear (see scan). The vinyl has a VG amount of scuffing/scratches. The audio, sadly, has a fair amount of "pops" because of tiny scratches here and there, but it's clear, undistorted and plays all the way through. Though I'd like better audio, the record looks great, I can always clean up the "pops" with software like ClickRepair if I make a recording of it, and it's awesome to own this very cool piece of Rock history.
