This was Gates' first solo outing after all the big Bread hits. It's a really pretty song, but I guess the public wasn't interested in ephemeral subjects like Clouds at the time. :-) Note: This beautiful, new-looking copy comes in a vintage Elektra Records factory sleeve. Though the record itself looks pristine, the audio has a tiny bit of static that's audible and persistent; depending on your level of tolerance for such light distractions, you might hear the sound as Near Mint, but since it's not really suitable for radio airplay, I got with grading it a strong Excellent. The fact that the defect affects both sides of this single suggests it's a manufacturing problem rather than the result of wear on a turntable.
