Susan

In case you've forgotten, right in the middle of this uptempo, tuneful Sunshine Pop number, the song breaks apart into a totally unexpected, Beatles-psychedelic-"Day in the Life" direction. Of course, the band does eventually pick up with an equally unexpected and delightful chorus that would make the Five Americans ("Western Union") proud. This very special promo copy has that version (clocking at 2:48) plus a 2:17 version that edits the psychedelic passage out. Honestly, I'm delighted they did that, because as interesting as the interlude is, it gets old with repeated hearings. One wants precisely the shorter edit Columbia provided here, on this "Special Rush Reservice" promo copy. Note: This copy comes in a vintage Columbia Records factory sleeve. The labels are close to Mint, but grade a strong EX because of a small, faint "David" inked on the short side (see scan). Although the vinyl (styrene) is lightly scuffed, the audio is a strong and clean Near Mint.
