Surfin' Bird/ King of the Surf

One of the truly essential surf classics, and it comes with a hard-charging surf-guitar-led rocker on the B side, too! This is the pressing with Garrett in script lettering and "Distributed by Soma Record co." on the label. Note: This copy has Near Mint labels with very light storage wear. The A side wax has some nasty-looking scratches/scuffs near the beginning, so I was doubtful the audio would be good enough to sell here on Classic 45s. I'm glad to report that the A side audio is very close to Near Mint... I could be persuaded to switch, but I'm grading it a strong EX because those scuffs do produce a few light "pops" in the early going. Also, the B side audio — though lacking notable surface noise — has a slight "wow" as a result of a slight mis-pressing. Don't get me wrong, the B side audio really is Excellent despite the flaw, and you might be able to get away with playing the A side on the radio, because the underlying audio is so strong and because by the time you get to the mind-bending vocal interlude, there is no surface noise to intrude, and that's a miracle with a copy like this!
