From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed promo copy, in its original factory sleeve... pristine Mint. It was rare in the late 1970s for a promo 45 release to feature two songs... They typically offered Mono and Stereo versions of a single "plugged" song. It's clear from the stars on the "Daylight Katy" label which side is being "plugged" here (see scan), but it's nice to have the terrific B side from the retail release as well! Unfortunately, neither side generated enough airplay and sales to register on the national U.S. singles charts, and though they don't rank among the singer/songwriter's greatest tunes, they possess sufficient Lightfoot charm to enchant existing fans. The label indicates these are both Mono mixes. It's important to note that the A side on this promo is a 3:55 track, whereas the retail release has a 3:20 edit. Another promo for WB 8579 exists that offers the 3:20 edited version in Mono and Stereo mixes. The 3:55 track mirrors the one on the 12-inch version of this single and is probably the album track.
