Let Me Be The Clock

From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed promo copy. This is by far my personal favorite of Smokey's solo singles. Not only is his vocal as pristine as ever, but his wordsmith wizardry is in full force, spinning symbolism as powerful as "The Tears of a Clown," "I Second That Emotion," "The Tracks Of My Tears," "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game," or "The Love I Saw In You Was Just A Mirage." Full disclosure: This song was a prominent guest at my marriage back in 1984. Since that lovely gal is still with me after 25 years, I've gotta give "Clock" (she's a big fan, too) a little of the credit! Note: This is an edited version of the LP cut.
