This was Diamond's first single after switching labels from Bang to Uni. He hadn't had a big hit on Bang for a year or so, and he would have to wait on Uni until 1969's "Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show" (#22) and "Sweet Caroline" (#4) to return to his hit-maker ways.
