Here's a tune that really should have been a hit but wasn't. Both the Foundations and Herman's Hermits recorded it around the same time, and it became the Hermits last U.S. top 40 hit, while being squandered on the B side of the Foundations' second U.S. chart single ("Back on My Feet Again", a great tune released in March 1968 and reaching only #59). By the time Herman's Hermits released this single, their time had passed, and I suspect many U.S. deejays didn't even give it a spin. But what a great bit of pop magic was missed here! I like both this and the Foundations' version (can't you hear them singing it?), but I guess I'm a little partial to Peter Noone's sly vocals on the Hermits track. Note: This Near Mint copy comes in a vintage MGM Records factory sleeve.
