Originally released on Columbia 44741. This is a like-new copy of the red/black label Columbia Hall of Fame pressing, in its factory sleeve. Yes, a pioneer British DJ "had the nerve to play it", as Kev Roberts puts it, in a Northern Soul club, and it proceeded to be a smash Northern Soul hit. As did some of the group's followup records. And here, I've thought of it as a bubblegum hit all this time. :-) (As I've noted before, there is a definite connection between bubblegum and soul... this is one of the tracks that demonstrates it. "Build Me Up Buttercup" by the Foundations is another.)
