This is a new, unplayed promo copy from the
Louise Neal 45 Collection. I don't know the back story, but it's certainly suspicious that two innovative Doo Wop arrangements of the Rogers-Hart classic "Blue Moon" should appear on the Bilozoard Hot 100 Singles chart the same week, same year. The Marcels version is clearly more polished than the version on this single, but who stole the idea from whom? :-) Anyway, it's cool to hear this alternative, almost-identical arrangement in all of its early 1960s Doo Wop glory. The flip is another RnB-style rocker, but it has no vocal group backing up Mr. Lance. Note: This beautiful promo has untouched labels, and the audio is pristine Mint. I'm grading the vinyl Near Mint because there's a tiny stress fracture that you don't notice until the needle enters the "dead wax" at the end of the song; no effect on the audio, and you wouldn't notice it on a casual inspection, since it's very unobtrusive visually.
