Lawdy Miss Clawdy/ Mailman Blues

This is a new, unplayed promo copy from the Louise Neal collection. This Rockin' RnB classic was originally released in 1952 on Specialty 428, when it was a huge hit in the Black/RnB market. This pressing is from 1959, when Price's career on ABC-Paramount had started to take off with hits like "Stagger Lee." Interestingly, this 1959 version is very different from the 1952 recording most fans are used to today. It's also different from the version I have on my old LP Mr. Personality's 15 Hits, which presumably was one Price re-recorded for his new label. Among other differences, the Specialty version has very prominent female backup vocals in a semi-Doo-Wop style. Note: This beautiful copy grades very close to Mint in all respects (Label, Vinyl, Audio). The vinyl looks new but has a faint, no-impact warp.
