The Dangling Conversation/ The Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine

Not one of the duo's bigger hits, this one also always struck me as one of the songwriter's inspirations for the better-but-still-awfully-naval-gazing "Fakin' It" a year later. :-) It's just a bit precious lyrically, and don't even get me started on the B side. However, Simon was not only growing as a songwriter at this point, but also as a studio producer, and the resulting recording of "The Dangling Conversation" has a beauty that transcends whatever lyrical shortcomings its "poem" origins might have. And that's the reason it's a recording every Simon & Garfunkel fan should own: The vocals are sublime, as are the guitars and arrangement. Not to be missed. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Columbia Records factory sleeve. The record has Near Mint labels, and the audio preserved in the fragile styrene grooves is miraculously pristine Mint. I've graded the vinyl (styrene) Near Mint to reflect some very light signs of use/storage.
