1999/ How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?

How does one guy manage to accumulate so damn much talent? IMHO, Prince's abilities--as a songwriter, performer, singer, producer, and instrumentalist--equal or surpass those of any other rock'n'soul musical prodigy you care to name, including Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson, Lennon-McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, Sly Stone, George Clinton, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen. The breadth and depth of his musical talent was amazing, as was his courage in taking on his record company and his generosity in taking in so many aspiring musicians over the years. This hit single was Prince's breakthrough to airwave domination for the next 15 years. The 45 re-entered the pop charts in June 1983 and hit #12. The flip is a terrific non-LP cut. This 45 release has a punchy, 3:35 edited version of the much longer album cut (6:22). One final thought... My recollection is that the original 1982 release of "1999" did not have a picture sleeve; the sleeve came with the 1983 release (on the same catalog number). Note: This beautiful vinyl 45 grades close to Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio), and the picture sleeve is Near Mint with a little top-edge wear.
