Best Of My Love/ Ol' '55

This was the song that really supercharged the Eagles' career. Between 1972's "Witchy Woman"—released in September 1972--and this single--?released in November 1974. ?The Eagles had only two Top 40 hits, neither of which cracked the Top 20. After "Best of My Love" became their first #1 hit, the group were out of the Top 10 on Bilozoard's Hot 100 singles chart only once (not counting their 1978 Christmas single, which itself climbed to a respectable #18) until 1980. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Elektra/Asylum Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels, and Near Mint vinyl and audio. \r\n

Counting this single and through the end of their long run of hits, The Eagles racked up five chart-toppers and four others in the Top 10.

Just for fun, here's the chart history of the group's golden years:\r\n

\r\n
    \r\n
  1. Best of My Love, #1 (1974)\r\n
  2. One of These Nights, #1 (1975)\r\n
  3. Lyin' Eyes, #2 (1975)\r\n
  4. Take It To The Limit, #4 (1976)\r\n
  5. New Kid In Town, #1 (1976)\r\n
  6. Hotel California, #1 (1977)\r\n
  7. Life In The Fast Lane, #11 (1977)\r\n
  8. Please Come Home For Christmas, #18 (1978)\r\n
  9. Heartache Tonight, #1 (1979)\r\n
  10. The Long Run, #8 (1979)\r\n
  11. I Can't Tell You Why, #8 (1980)\r\n
\r\n

Though 1974-78 was the group's most successful period, chart-wise, several of the classics that fans most adore today are from their relatively unsuccessful 1972-74 period, including:\r\n

\r\n
    \r\n
  • Take It Easy, #12 (1972)\r\n
  • Witchy Woman, #9 (1972)\r\n
  • Peaceful Easy Feeling, #22 (1973), and\r\n
  • Tequila Sunrise, #64 (1973)\r\n
\r\n

By the way, this hit single version is specially edited from a 4:35 album cut... Concentrated goodness!

\r\nNote: There is a name penned on the A-side in blue ink that is difficult to see, but there, so labels grade EX+. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
