Showdown/ In An Old England Town

From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original U.A. factory sleeve. Is it just me, or does it sound like Jeff Lynne copped some riffs from 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine' on this song? But I love it anyway! This is the first release of "Showdown," which as the followup to the group's debut single, "Roll Over Beethoven." The tune was re-released in 1976 but didn't do as well on the charts, peaking at #59. A different release on the same catalog number has a 3:49 edited version of the song; the album cut is 4:15. Note: This beautiful 45 has Mint labels and pristine sound. The vinyl (styrene) grades Near Mint to reflect a touch of storage wear.
