This is a new, unplayed promo copy from the
Louise Neal 45 Collection. This was Jean Wells' second of four U.S. chart hits (note... none of them even bubbled under the pop chart, though). This A side was included on Wells' only Calla album, but the Deep Soul ballad "Corner" did not, becoming a non-album cut. Note: This beautiful promo 45 has light storage wear, which is why the Label grade is Near Mint rather than Mint (see scan). The vinyl looks untouched, and the audio sounds pristine Mint!
Collector Nerd Alert: If you believe the labels, "I Feel Good" is the "B" side, and perhaps that was the record company's intent. However, we believe that the voting public's opinion trumps the company's intent, especially in a case like this where the apparent B side is the one that became a hit, with no recorded airplay or sales citing the intended A side. Here at Classic 45s, we have for more than 15 years now followed the practice of citing the A side as the one that was the bigger hit (of the two sides), and I believe that's a sound practice. Otherwise, you get nonsense such as citing "Yesterday" as the B side of "Act Naturally," because that's the way the labels indicate the order should be. And yet, "Yesterday" was the bigger hit and is one of the Beatles most enduring classics, a triumph for Paul McCartney that fully redeems him as a songwriter of the highest caliber. Therefore, we show "Yesterday" as the A side in our listings. 'Nuff said!
