I Wasn't There/ Those Days Are Gone

One of the best Roy "C" singles! The A side is a powerful statement of kinship with his ancestors as he recalls how slavery devastated their lives, set to a surprisingly bright, uptempo beat. The flip returns to more mundane memories like lost love, but the music stays upbeat and melodic. If there ever was a soul artist who deserved some recognition but got virtually none, it was this guy. Another neglected soul singer like Z.Z. Hill looks like a superstar next to Roy "C."
