James Crawford, also known as "Sugar Boy", was an American rhythm and blues musician active in the mid-20th century. He is best remembered for his 1954 hit "Jock-A-Mo", a song that has been covered by many artists and remains a staple of New Orleans music. His style, influenced by the vibrant jazz, blues, and Mardi Gras Indian chant traditions of his hometown, contributed significantly to the development of New Orleans R&B. Despite his relatively brief recording career, Crawford's unique fusion of musical styles had a lasting impact on the genre.
