Joe Bennett and the Sparkletones were a prominent rockabilly group in the mid-1950s. The band, from Spartanburg, South Carolina, consisted of Joe Bennett (lead guitar), Howard Childress (rhythm guitar), Wayne Arthur (bass), and Jimmy Denton (drums), all aged between thirteen and sixteen at their height. Known for their lively, guitar-driven sound, they gained national recognition with their hit "Black Slacks," which peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Pop chart in 1957. Despite their brief career, their youthful energy and distinctive style left a significant mark on the rockabilly genre.
