For What It's Worth (Stop, Hey What's That Sound) / Rock And Roll Woman

Originally released on Atco 6459. This is a beautiful copy of the Atlantic Oldies reissue with the gold/black label. This impossible-to-find rarity features the group that launched the careers of Stephen Stills and Neil Young, among others. Note that Rolling Stone magazine puts the tune at #63 in its list of the 500 top Rock/Soul songs; Dave Marsh includes it, too, but not high enough IMHO, at #838 out of 1,001. The Springfield were mainly a Folk/Rock outfit like the Byrds, but here Neil Young's haunting lead guitar pushes the sound toward the Psychedelic side of the sound. This copy has Mint labels and Near Mint vinyl and audio. The audio has a light touch of underlying surface noise.
