The Purple People Eater Meets The Witch Doctor/ My Fondest Memories

A few months before the Big Bopper broke "big" nationally with the classic "Chantilly Lace," a young Joe South had put to wax a cover of Bopper's answer song to Sheb Wooley's "The Purple People Eater" and David (Chipmunks) Seville's "The Witch Doctor." Both of those tunes had been chart-toppers earlier in the year. When "Chantilly Lace" was released, the Big Bopper (Texas dee-jay J.P. Richardson) put his own version on the B side. Note: This beautiful copy has Near Mint labels, and the vinyl looks almost untouched. The audio is very close to Mint!
