Red Prysock

Red Prysock was an influential American tenor saxophonist known for his significant contributions to the R&B and rock and roll genres in the 1950s. His dynamic style, characterized by a robust, honking tone, was a defining element of the early rock and roll sound. Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, Prysock gained prominence as a member of Tiny Bradshaw's band, but his solo career peaked with the hit "Hand Clappin'" in 1955. His influence is seen in the development of R&B saxophone techniques and his integration of jazz elements into popular music.
