Led by pianist Sergio Mendes, the group is best known for its unique blend of bossa nova rhythms with contemporary American pop and jazz-fusion. The band's signature sound is characterized by the distinctive two-part vocal harmonies of Lani Hall and Janis Hansen, and their most influential works include hit covers of "Mas Que Nada" and "The Look of Love".
