Skip & Flip was a U.S. pop duo, consisting of Clyde "Skip" Battin and Gary "Flip" Paxton. Active during the late 1950s and early 1960s, their distinctive sound was a fusion of doo-wop, rockabilly, and pop, contributing to the musical trends of the era. They are most renowned for their hit singles “It Was I” and “Cherry Pie," both of which peaked in the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Despite their brief existence, Skip & Flip's influence can be seen in the later works of Battin with The Byrds and Paxton as a successful record producer.
