Spirit was an influential American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1967. Known for their eclectic style, they incorporated elements of rock, jazz, blues, folk, and classical music into their compositions. The band’s line-up was distinctive for including jazz drummer Ed Cassidy, stepfather to lead vocalist and guitarist Randy California. Spirit’s most recognized song, "I Got a Line on You," and their 1968 self-titled debut album, particularly the instrumental "Taurus," have left lasting impressions in music history.
