The Barbarians were an American garage rock band formed in 1964 in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. They were notable for their primitive, hard-edged style of rock, which set them apart in the mid-1960s music scene. The band's drummer and vocalist, Moulty, also distinguished them due to his prosthetic hook hand, a result of a childhood accident. Their most significant contribution to music history is the song "Are You a Boy or Are You a Girl?", a commentary on the British Invasion bands' style, which has since become a garage rock classic.
