The Brass Ring

The Brass Ring was an American instrumental pop group from the mid-1960s, led by the notable saxophonist and arranger Phil Bodner. Known for their lush, brass-heavy arrangements, they were emblematic of the "Now Sound", a sub-genre of easy listening music heavily influenced by jazz and bossa nova. The group's signature sound was characterized by Bodner's saxophone, layered over a variety of brass and wind instruments. Their most influential work, "The Dis-Advantages of You", was used in a series of popular commercials, affirming their place in the musical landscape of the time.
