The Chipmunks is a virtual band created in 1958 by Ross Bagdasarian Sr. under the pseudonym David Seville. The band consists of three animated anthropomorphic chipmunks—Alvin, Simon, and Theodore—who are known for their high-pitched voices, a result of recording techniques that speed up the audio track. Their music, a blend of pop and children's genres, has been a significant influence on later fictional music groups. The Chipmunks' most notable work is their debut novelty record, "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)", which won three Grammy Awards.
