The Marvelettes

The Marvelettes were an American all-female group who found fame in the early 1960s as one of the successful acts on Berry Gordy's Motown Record Label. Their musical style was characterized by a blend of pop and soul, and their harmonious vocals became a signature sound. The group, originally consisting of Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart, and Georgia Dobbins, is notable for their hit single "Please Mr. Postman," which became Motown’s first number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their influence set the stage for future female Motown acts like The Supremes and Martha and the Vandellas.
