The New Yorkers

The New Yorkers were a 1960s American pop band from Portland, Oregon, known for their distinct blend of rock and roll with elements of soul and pop. Their most significant contribution to music history was the hit single "Mr. Kirby", which landed on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1967. The group comprised members Chris Gaylord, Larry Burton, Bill Hudson, Bob Hudson, and Mark Bretz, each bringing a unique musical flair to the ensemble. Despite their short-lived career, The New Yorkers' sound is considered a pivotal representation of the Pacific Northwest's contribution to the mid-century pop-rock scene.
