The Rimshots were an American funk and disco band popular during the 1970s. They were initially formed as the house band for Stang Records, a subsidiary of All Platinum Records, and were known for their tight, funky rhythms and instrumental prowess. The band's members, including drummer Sylvester 'Sly' Dunbar, made significant contributions to the development of funk and disco. Their most notable works include the 1976 hit "7-6-5-4-3-2-1 (Blow Your Whistle)" and their work as backing band on Shirley & Company's "Shame, Shame, Shame."
