The Rivingtons

The Rivingtons were an American doo-wop group popular in the early 1960s. Consisting of members Al Frazier, John "Sonny" Harris, Rocky Wilson Jr., and Carl White, they are best known for their novelty hit songs "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" and "The Bird's the Word" which later inspired the surf rock classic "Surfin' Bird" by The Trashmen. The Rivingtons' distinctive blend of rhythm and blues, novelty, and doo-wop contributed to the evolution of popular music, specifically influencing the development of the surf rock genre.
