The Undertones are a Northern Irish punk rock band, formed in Derry in 1974. Their music, characterized by youthful, energetic punk rock with melodic hooks and thoughtful lyrics about teenage life, was a significant contribution to the punk rock movement. The band is best known for their 1978 hit "Teenage Kicks," which was championed by influential BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel.
