Timbuk 3 was an American post-punk band, active from 1984 to 1995, known for their unique blend of folk, rock, and electronic music. The band was a duo composed of Pat MacDonald and his wife, Barbara K. MacDonald, using a boombox for drum and bass accompaniment to their vocal harmonies and guitar. They gained prominence with their 1986 hit, "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades," which became a signature song of the 1980s. Despite their short-lived mainstream success, Timbuk 3's innovative use of technology in live performances was significant in the evolution of indie music.
