It's Not The Spotlight/ Down On The Street

Here's a rare single that's not only written by but also sung by Gerry Goffin, who for many years in the early to mid 1960's was Carole King's partner-in-songwriting crime--stealing hearts and breaking hearts with their classic teenage love songs and dance tunes. (OK, I'll name just two... if I got going, I'd be all night at this one record! "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" by the Shirelles, "Up on The Roof" by the Drifters, and "One Fine Day" by the Chiffons. Sorry, that's three ...couldn't help myself.) Here, Goffin sounds for all the world like fellow songwriter Bob Dylan, and the A side is a very effective recording in the folk-rock genre.
