Sun was an influential funk band based in Dayton, Ohio during the late 1970s and early 1980s. They were known for their fusion of funk, R&B, and disco, which was characterized by tight rhythm sections, catchy melodies, and powerful brass. Founded by Byron Byrd, a multi-instrumentalist, Sun released a number of successful albums, with their most popular tracks including "Sun Is Here" and "Radiation Level". Despite their dissolution in the mid-1980s, Sun's distinctive sound has had a lasting impact on the funk genre.
