AFI, short for A Fire Inside, is an American rock band formed in Ukiah, California, in 1991. The band's lineup solidified in 1998 with vocalist Davey Havok, drummer Adam Carson, bassist Hunter Burgan, and guitarist Jade Puget. Known for their blend of punk rock, hardcore, emo, and gothic rock, AFI's style has evolved over the years. The band's breakthrough came with their sixth album "Sing the Sorrow" (2003) which introduced a more melodic and polished sound. AFI has significantly influenced the emo and post-hardcore genres, noted for Havok's distinctive vocals and their energetic, theatrical performances.
