Zapp

Zapp is an American funk band that emerged in the late 1970s, known for their innovative use of the talk box and synthesizers. The band was formed by the Troutman brothers, with Roger Troutman being the most notable due to his mastery of the talk box. Their 1980 track "More Bounce to the Ounce" is particularly significant in the history of hip-hop, as its unique sound became a widely-sampled staple. Despite the tragic end of the Troutman brothers, Zapp's influence on music, particularly within the funk, R&B, and hip-hop genres, remains substantial.
